Austin Iteka, professionally known as Mr. MBONA, is a Burundian rapper, songwriter, content creator, and actor shaping his own path in East Africa’s creative scene.

Mr. MBONA began his music journey in 2018 both as a performer and songwriter in his fellow artists’ songs and rose to online attention in 2022 through TikTok, where his comedy skits and talking-head videos showcased his creative voice and strong storytelling, and later through music.

That same year, he released his debut single “Dore Imbogo”, marking his entry into Burundi’s evolving music scene, with a unique style: Blending Afro-rap energy with his strong storytelling.

Driven by passion and self-expression, Mr. MBONA is part of a new wave of Burundian creators bringing fresh perspective and authentic voice to both music and digital content. While still rising, his work reflects a clear vision — to speak for his generation, innovate through genre, and proudly represent Burundi on a bigger stage.
